The IPM supervises the production of multiple cross-platform projects and related production management, quality assurance and developer teams. This entails active involvement through all phases of development, including: pre-production, production, alpha, beta; schedule maintenance, staffing decisions, and milestone reviews and payments.
The IPM works with the Director of IT and Director of Business Development to facilitate inter-team communications, manage staff/resource allocations, and establish the Interactive department’s strategic plan.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning the workflow for Digital projects. This requires a keen understanding of the project objectives and the ability to define the project attributes such as audience, message, medium, budget and outcome.
Example: Client XYZ requires task ABC to be done. Through a process of discovery and refinement with the client, produce a project proposal that explains how the objectives will be met AND a project brief that explains the project attributes to team members. Remarks: The most common form of miscommunication occurs when expectations and assumptions are misaligned. What is meant and what is communicated differs or the higher occurrence of misinterpretation due to pre-conceived notions. This misalignment can occur between clients or internal staff. To minimise miscommunications, use tools in the form of proposals (high level concepts), functional specification (detailed descriptions – planning stage), technical & user manuals (post delivery), Work-in-Progress & Review notes help ensure consistency. Think of them as a process of documented checks and reminders.
Monitoring the development process to ensure that the project brief is being followed. The IPM has to work with the team to ensure correct, quality work and delivery to the agreed schedule and deliverables.
Remarks: Changes, deviations, scope creep, and work around are common. The process of monitoring ensures that the project remains on the right course. A thorough review and analysis of design docs is crucial in the latter stages of planning especially on application development projects.
